Spreading the Cheer: How You Can Help a Neighbor in Montgomery County

As we celebrate Hanukkah and Thanksgiving this week, too many in Montgomery County are going without during the Holidays and around the year. If you’re able to help spread some cheer this Holiday season, the Montgomery County Holiday Giving Project has ways you can help your neighbors:

Volunteering

Help distribute food to those in need during the following shift:

November 27th 4:00pm – 8:30pm

Shifts will be held at the White Oak Community Recreation Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring, MD 20901.

Food Donation

Help give someone else a holiday meal by donating any of the following non-perishable food items:

Canned Yams, Canned Cranberry, Canned Green Beans, Canned Chicken Broth, Canned Carrots, Dried Stuffing Mix, Canned Gravy, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Canned Pie Filling, and Boxed Muffin Mix

Donations can be brought to the White Oak Community Recreation Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring, MD 20901.

Financial contribution

According to Montgomery County Holiday Giving Project partner Nourish Now, a contribution of $30 can feed a family of 1-2, a contribution of $45 can feed a family of 3-4, and a contribution of $55 can feed a family of 5-7.
